Revolutionary DIY Dysfunctional Families.

So the theme of our November issue was the revolution and revolutionary things, the theme of our December issue, which is out is DIY dysfunctional families. They should be on our website very soon. Sorry about being late, we are only people. Young people...with nothing better to do than make a magazine and blog about our pathetic lives...NOT. No, see? We are not like that, so we won't be as diligent with our website as we'd like to be. BUT, we are nice enough to apologize for our wrong doings--please don't hurt us! We love all of you out there!

Our issues keep varying in the amount of submissions, and if you don't see your submission, it's because we didn't recieve it, or because that issue was too full and it will be in the next. Never fear, it will be in here! :| I'm so lame.

Anyway, special thanks to all those that did submit, thanks to those that read it, and a high five to those who are learning about it right this minute. I'd write more...but it's Christmas vacation. Happy Holidays! Happy Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Winter Solstice to everyone!

Love,
Kiki

BOO!

Did I scare you? Well, given the month--and theme of our October issue--I think it can be justified :) Now how about a treat in return. How does our second issue sound? Check out the entire issue online at arrow.ravenicreative.com.

You may have noticed by now that this post is actually being written on November 7th. Oh my gosh! We're about a month late, so sorry about that, but life can get in the way sometimes. Sorry about that.

On the other hand, we're hard at work on our November issue, which should be photocopied and out on the town this Monday, November 9th. Just so you know, that's also the twentieth anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down. Pretty epic, huh? Yeah, we like to think so :D

I can't think of much else to say right now, and am actually pretty far behind on my articles for this month!

Get yourselves to Berlin, dear readers! We'll provide some reading material for your flight.

Love,
Erika

Where? When? NOW!

Hi to everybody reading out there! I just thought I'd let you know that I'm making a schedule of when the ARROW group has meetings. You may not be able to attend, you may not be wanted there (not by us, but by the people around us, considering we have meetings at school), either way, I thought it'd be nice to let you know! After I edit it, and send it to Erika and Laura to look over, we'll post it up here! Thanks for your time!

-Kiki

EDIT: Okay, so the whole Arrow meeting schedule didn't exactly work out...Sorry about that. But we have a meeting on Friday October 30, 2009! Um...after school? =D Come if you can! <3

First Official Arrow Meeting.

Hello! We had an Arrow meeting today at our school. An official meeting. It went pretty well, considering it was our first meeting...and the three people that were supposed to be in charge (*cough*Erika, me, Laura!*cough*) were very overwhelmed and had gotten shots earlier that day...We were tired, sore, overwhelmed and confused--but, you know, good for the most part.

So, we had minutes from the meeting, but I'm not quite sure what happened to that...If someone does not post them soon, I will. =D

Um, what else, what else? I think there is still time to submit your things, if you'd like! We try to get the magazine out every second Monday of the month...But, I'm not quite sure what's going on right now. We are all very tired from things happening in our own lives, as well as school (Am I speaking just for myself?), and, even though we care a great deal about Arrow, we have sort of pushed that aside a bit and have done more important things. Keywords: a bit. Only a little bit, we have been working very hard!!

The theme for our October issue is "Monsters Under the Desk", so Halloween, monsters, candy--you name it, we'll take it. If you think your submission might fit a theme we'll have in future, save it for then! If not, go ahead and submit! We'll take anything school appropriate! MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE!

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry this sucks so bad. I'm very tired, just thought we should have a post for the meeting, so I did it!

Love from Kiki, and the rest of the Arrow group.

PS: If you want to have your own special copy of Arrow that you don't have to share, subscribe to us! It's free! If you don't go to our school, I think you can just print off your own copy, but if you go to our school, write your name and homeroom on a piece of paper and give it to the office (ask for our mailbox!). Got it? Good! Go do it!

underage festival extras

Moshing for a Cause

Several aid organizations used the festival as an opportunity to get their message out there. Not a bad idea; wherever free stuff was being handed out, there was an eager crowd to receive it. The work wasn't all material, though. You could pledge your support, make a donation, or just get information. To learn more about one of the many deserving, rocking causes, check out:

Hungry?

No outside food or drink was allowed within the Festival grounds to try and prevent alchohol consumption. It wasn't much of a loss though, as the food offered was as diverse as the festival itself! You could take your pick from classic hot dogs, fish and chips, and ice cream; or venture for the more adventurous samosas, Chinese food, falafels, and vegan cuisine. They even had organic candy floss—what more could you ask for?

I <3> Underage

The Music

If you couldn't find a band you liked at the Underage Festival, you had to be either extremely picky, or hearing impaired. Not only was the line up really good, but all of the bands were made even better by hearing them live, amidst the energy of the crowds. There was definitely something for everyone, ranging from the intense screamo of Rolo Tomassi and Don Broco, to the eerie electronica offered by Metronomy. There were peppy, pop ballads sung by Mystery Jets and Pigeon Detectives, hip-hop and soul courtesy of Santigold and Rusko, and a little bit of everything else! For a complete list of this year's performers, and info on everything else underage, check out the official web site, www.underagefestivals.com

issue one cover

BIG NEWS!

Hello, hello, hello people of the internet!

Our first issue is now complete (actually has been for a while but SOME people prefer to procrastinate...) and we are all very excited! You can read the entire thing online here. We sincerely hope you like it. We're also on facebook right here, because social networking in the real world is too difficult.

If you would like to join the Arrow universe (Arrow verse? Arroverse?) then check out our magazine, and send us whatever you'd like to see in it next month! You can contact us in person at Skeena where you'll probably find us floating absentmindedly around the halls, or at our mailbox in the Skeena office. Just ask for "Arrow", and depending on how prompt Mr Crawley is, the secretary might just help you! Ouch, sorry.

Copies of our magazine can be found not just online but also around Skeena in the library, halls, and posted to the occasional bulletin board. Remember to subscribe by sending us your name and homeroom number if you want to get your own special copy, otherwise it's first come, first serve. Starting in October we're going to be spreading Arrow Terrace-wide by taking copies to several businesses around town. More info on this, and other next month stuff in the future!

For now, we really do hope that you'll enjoy the magazine and get involved with it. If all goes well we'll be having a meeting at Skeena after school next week, but again, more info to come later! Have a fabulous day,

Erika (avec the rest of Arrow)

Love and Blogs.

Hello, konnichi wa, ni hoa, bonjour, hola!

We are Arrow. A group of students dedicated to making our school, and the world, a better place one magazine at a time! So basically, we created a literary magazine at our school not only to brush up on our writing skills, but to be as awesome and supreme as we can without seeming like jerks. Humble, no? Just kidding, in truth we started this magazine so that we can remind our classmates of big issues that must be fixed with some humor and wit, and a little nerd writing action. Like, we all know picking out clothes for the first day of school is important, but I was thinking more like...um, gee, I don't know...world hunger? Global warming? Ring any bells?

It's obvious that when we are touching these issues, it may be a little harsh, or nerdy, and not very much wit may be added--at least not from someone as unwitty as me--but we're trying our best! Besides, we're students, we've got our whole lives ahead of us to be awesome, harsh, nerdy, cool, and witty journalists. No rush whatsoever.

Right now, we don't have very much, but we will be releasing our very first issue very soon! And after, or even before, that we will have a Facebook group and many other links and goodies for you! I know, "goodies"? Lame! But we're trying to be as polite as we can possibly be for our first issue, so cut us some slack! You can start calling us lame after you've read our first issue, but definitely not before!

Love,

Akina-Hana, and the rest of the Arrow group. (Hopefully, I kind of did this without permission!)
