happy days in arrow country

Hey!

So, June, our last issue of the year is rapidly approaching. Got anything to submit? Please?

There are no themes standing in your way this month, just the usual please keep everything school appropriate--they pay for our photocopying! Other than that, anything goes. Get out your pen and paper and get creative!
If there are any aspiring poets (or people who like to listen to aspiring poets... or just people who suck at poetry) out there, this Friday--yes, short notice, don't kill me--at Cafenara at 7pm we're going to be holding our first ever Poetry Party! WHOOOP!!

By "we" I don't actually mean the arrow club, although this is totally up our alley. One of my friends and I are organizing this event. It's something that our families do as an annual event and we wanted to try it for ourselves but more... youthful.

Another thing, just to lighten the mood, check this out. Tee-hee, Forbes.

In other news, SESAME STREET!

Sorry for the language, but hey, he has a right to be offended. People these days...

Love,
Erika :)

Happy for May Long

We kind of suck at this, don't we? To make things fair, though, we are extremely busy people! Bringing you the best we can give, all the while balancing our social lives and trying to keep sane is not an easy feat, you know!

Anyway, April's issue was Going Lime Green. There was a holiday in the middle of April's issue, which really messed up our connections with the regular contributor's of Arrow. However, through one day of panicking, scrounging, hoarding, and breathing down people's necks, we managed to pull through. We collected and wrote--and wisely spaced out!--pictures, articles and the like into a fairly decent issue.

This month's issue is Happiness...a little too cliche? Well, we try to keep as far away from that as possible! This issue will also have a hint of Cuba, as most of the Arrow crew went to Cuba for 11 days! Unfortunately for me, though, that left me in charge of hoarding and collecting from the few contributors left behind! Not everyone's comfortable with having their things published after all, no matter how small scale.

Because of this little Cuba interruption, we'd like to give these people a little recuperation time. So, Arrow will be coming out the week following May long. It's going to be super thick, and full of contributions we hope! Look forward to it!

marching forth

Woot, woot, Arrow!

Nice to see you again--it's certainly been a while. This month--or this coming month, March--our theme is Lost in Translation. So we totally ripped off the movie, I know, I know. We're busting our butts and cramping our fingers, though, to "beef up" this issue. Our past two have been... rather slim, shall we say.

Today I was at the library, and a woman (also named Erika, but spelled like Ereka. Weird) told me that a lot of elementary school kids who come in there with their parents see our magazine and are jazzed, because they like to write and they can't wait till they get to Skeena. Thing is, Arrow isn't so much a "Skeena" thing as it is a "people" thing. When we all go to Cal, it'll either come with us or wither and die, basically.

So! I'm thinking perhaps our next meeting should be more heavily advertised throughout the community--maybe even the newspaper?--so that we can invite everyone and anyone to partake in some arrow. Any thoughts?

That's what I'm thinking, anyways. If anyone can think of a good time and place, suggestions are welcome!

Love,
Erika

FOOD 0_0

SOOOOOO, this month we are doing food. What are your favorite foods. I like weird food combos, like melted cheese and marshmallow on crackers. What are your favorite strange, to other people, food combos. I round some one who only eats the core of the pineapple with horseradish and salt, strange????? What about marmite and peaches. I hate marmite, but apparently somebody likes it. We really want to hear from you.

yesterday, today, and whenever

Welcome to 2010, internet!

I hope your new year is going well, so far. I'm sure that you've made some New Year's resolutions, hmm? Well, one resolution that I didn't make was to keep updating our ARROW site more often! Here it is, my New Year's (plus 28 days!) resolution.

December was an exciting month. Not only did I get loads of chocolate for Christmas, we also released a double (kind of) issue: DIY Dysfunctional Families. The PDF file will be uploaded ASAP, so you can check this out.

More news, just this week we published our FIFTH ISSUE! Past, Present, and Future chronicles our past lives, present events, and slightly sketchy views of the future. Again, the PDF file will be up before you know it!

A bit more news, and a few more things for your perusal: our facebook group is sadly neglected. Honestly, it's just me typing things with a few replies. A little sad? Sure, but don't be discouraged. The wall is just waiting for you.

Arrow is now available at Ruins Boardshop in Terrace. By the way, if anyone would like to read or receive a copy of our magazine, and you live out of town, then we are more than willing to ship it to you.

One last thing! ARROW will be at the Terrace Family Literacy Day tomorrow at Clarence Michiel Elementary School, celebrating Family Literacy Day. Come out and see your friendly magazine writers and take part in a happy-go-lucky creative activity. Or, if you prefer, replace the terms friendly and happy-go-lucky with 'mysterious' and 'tall, dark and handsome', if that's more your thing.

Have a great day!
Erika

Revolutionary DIY Dysfunctional Families.

So the theme of our November issue was the revolution and revolutionary things, the theme of our December issue, which is out is DIY dysfunctional families. They should be on our website very soon. Sorry about being late, we are only people. Young people...with nothing better to do than make a magazine and blog about our pathetic lives...NOT. No, see? We are not like that, so we won't be as diligent with our website as we'd like to be. BUT, we are nice enough to apologize for our wrong doings--please don't hurt us! We love all of you out there!

Our issues keep varying in the amount of submissions, and if you don't see your submission, it's because we didn't recieve it, or because that issue was too full and it will be in the next. Never fear, it will be in here! :| I'm so lame.

Anyway, special thanks to all those that did submit, thanks to those that read it, and a high five to those who are learning about it right this minute. I'd write more...but it's Christmas vacation. Happy Holidays! Happy Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Winter Solstice to everyone!

Love,
Kiki

BOO!

Did I scare you? Well, given the month--and theme of our October issue--I think it can be justified :) Now how about a treat in return. How does our second issue sound? Check out the entire issue online at arrow.ravenicreative.com.

You may have noticed by now that this post is actually being written on November 7th. Oh my gosh! We're about a month late, so sorry about that, but life can get in the way sometimes. Sorry about that.

On the other hand, we're hard at work on our November issue, which should be photocopied and out on the town this Monday, November 9th. Just so you know, that's also the twentieth anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down. Pretty epic, huh? Yeah, we like to think so :D

I can't think of much else to say right now, and am actually pretty far behind on my articles for this month!

Get yourselves to Berlin, dear readers! We'll provide some reading material for your flight.

Love,
Erika
